Weekday Program Board
What are the functions of the committee?
- To establish the preschool program in compliance with the state of Texas Department of Human Resources minimum standards for kindergarten and nursery school and My Friends' Place in compliance with the state of Texas Department of Human Resources minimum standards for day care centers.
- To be responsible for the operation of the Weekday Program in compliance with the above-mentioned minimum standards and to:
Evaluate and provide for the supply and equipment needs of the Weekday Program
Approve a yearly budget (June to May being the school and fiscal year) for the operation of the Weekday Program, based upon the setting of tuition and fees by this board
- To formulate with and the particiation of the Director of the Weekday Program the policies of the Weekday Program, such policies to be approved by the Weekday Program Board of the United Methodist Church
- The Staff-Parish Relations committee shall employ/terminate the Director of the Weekday Program in consultation with the board.
- The Director shall submit to the Staff-Parish Relations committee a list of teachers and staff persons for employment and/or termination, annually or as necessary.
- To be responsible to notify the Department of Human Resources in writing in advance, of any occurance which affects the status of the nursery, kindergarten or day vare license.
What has the committee done most recently?
- Approved annual budget.
- Appropriated funds for the new playground.
What is the makeup of the committee?
- Voting members (must be members of the First United Methodist Church, Plano, Texas, except as indicated:
Representative from the church Finance Committee
One representative from Children's Day Out, Preschool, and My Friends' Place. Church membership is not required for these respresentatives. These persons are to serve a term of one year. They are to be elected by the Charge Conference of the First United Methodist Church.
Six at-large members from the church on a three-year rotation system. These are to be elected by the Charge Conference of the First United Methodist Church.
The Chairperson of the Weekday Program Board shall be elected to serve a one year term and shall be re-elected for no more than one additional term. This person shall be one of the six at-large members. The Chairperson is a non-voting member and only will vote to break a tie.
- Non-voting members:
Ex-officio member shall be the Senior Minister of the First United Methodist Church.

How often does the committee meet?
- The 2nd Tuesday of every other month. Meetings in between may occur if called.
- Meetings are at 7:00 pm and last 45 minutes to an hour.
