Staff-Parish Relations Committee

 

What are the functions of the committee?

  • To work with the Senior Pastor regarding:
    Responsibility for overseeing the Human Resources function in the Church
    Assessment of the development of the Staff
    Dealings with Staff issues
    Approval of all Staff positions, additions or deletions
    Involvement with the evaluation and improvement of the Staff

What has the committee done most recently?

  • Ongoing hiring as the church grows

What is the makeup of the committee?

  • Chair
  • Senior Pastor
  • Lay Leader
  • Committee Members

How often does the committee meet?

  • Once a month 

What is the commitment of someone who serves on the committee?

  • Attend and participate in meetings
  • Keep informed of personnel matters in relationship to the Church's policy, professional standards, liability issues and civil law
  • Be available for educational and training opportunities provided by the conference, district, and/or other arenas that will enable them to be effective in their work
  • Be prepared to serve on hiring committees as needed

What is the term length?

  • Three (3) years

What would be helpful for a first time committee member to know?

  • The work of this committee requires someone to have a high level of confidentiality.

What skill sets or experience are most needed to serve in this ministry?

  • Prior work experience in human resources
  • Previous participation in interviewing and hiring processes
  • Experience managing others
