Lay Leadership Committee

 

What are the functions of the committee?

  • The commitee is charged with identifying laypersons in the congregation to serve as officers and leaders for the different areas of ministry for our church

What has the committee done most recently?

  • Identified members of the congregation that have shown leadership abilities
  • Identified members who have shown an interest in particular areas of ministry
  • Discussed how to develop new leaders

What is the makeup of the commmittee?

  • The committee is composed of nine professing members of our local church in addition to the pastor and the lay leader.

How often does the committee meet?

  • Six times a year, mostly in the late summer and fall prior to the annual church conference
  • Short meetings are called during the year if the need arises.

What is the commitment of someone who serves on the committee?

  • To serve throughout the year to guide the church council on matters regarding leadership (other than employed staff) of the congregation so as to focus on mission and ministry as the context for service; guide the development and training of spiritual leaders, assist the church council in assessing the changing leadership needs

What is the term length?

  • Three (3) years
