"The Plan"

The Finance Committee in conjunction with the Communications Department and various other clergy and staff want to make it easier for you to give, plan to give and understand how much you have given.

Under our current plan, we want to:

Place monthly financial statements online. We will remind you of these statement using First Word, First E-News and/or First Notes.
Focus on God's vision for mission and ministry in our church.
Motivate people to get involved and support our church through their prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. This section of the website concentrates primarily on the "gifts" portion of this promise.
Create a place where you can easily initiate a weekly, monthly or one-time debit from your checking account as your gift or tithe.
Create a place where you can give weekly, monthly and/or one-time gifts or tithes with your credit card.
Create a place where you can calculate and plan for your gifts or tithes for the upcoming year.
Create a place where you can see quickly your giving amounts and your committment status.
Create a place where you and the groups you represent can raise money and use the web to further your cause.
Maintain an email where you can give your suggestions to help to build the church financially.

The financial statements are now online here with the ability to look at them in great detail in .pdf form by clicking the "Net" under each month.
There are many committees that focus on every aspect of the church. The Finance Committee primarily looks at the financial gifts and expenses of keeping our church running. To get an idea of how complex this task is, click on the "Net" under one of the months after clicking "Gifts and Expenses" above to see an income and expense statement for the church. Your Finance Committee manages each one of these catagories for you to ensure we have enough money to run the church and that each gift is spent wisely.
We are still working on an online method to set up weekly, monthly and/or one-time drafts from your checking account. You can always email David Roberson at droberson@firstmethodistplano.org and he will be happy to set it up for you. More to come...
We have for your consideration, three places you can make a gift or tithe with your credit card online. Once you have set up your information and created a user name and password, you will only need to re-enter your credit card information each time you wish to make a one-time gift or tithe. For pledge gifts and tithes, you will only need to set this up once a year. Please click here to see some of the needs of the church. Of course, for your convenience, we have the monthly gifts page where you can set up regular charges to your credit card for your financial pledges.

Special Note: The church promotes responsible use of debt. Credit card payments are offered for convenience only and it is the position of the church that you should not incur debt in order to make your gift.
