The Chancel Choir is our largest vocal ensemble made up of adults of all ages and is at the very heart of the Ministry of Music at First Church.   This choral group provides a wide variety of anthems and special music from the great choral classics of Brahms, Haydn, Handel, and the like to the wonderful Spirituals and Gospel Music as well as outstanding hymn arrangements.   The Chancel Choir sings each Sunday morning at 11:00 am and is accompanied by our own First Church Orchestra almost every week.    With a membership of over 85 voices, the ensemble rehearses each Wednesday evening from 7:30 - 9:00 pm and childcare is provided.  

 In addition to Sunday morning worship, the Chancel Choir maintains a schedule of performances that include two musical traditions at First Church:  The Patriotic Pops Concert held each July 4th in connection with the Fireworks show provided by the city of Plano and for the Christmas Pops Event in December, which includes the best of sacred and secular music for the holiday.  The choir also enjoys preparing for special programs that include a variety of choral literature.  Past performances have included Handel's Messiah, Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, and the Vaughan Williams' Five Mystical Songs.  The current list of music includes Schubert's Mass in G and the Robert Ray Gospel Mass.  New members are always welcome - no matter what your level of musical ability.   Our choir rehearsals are open and no auditions are held.  Come and join us!!
