This 4-week class is designed for those considering membership or are new to First Church and want to learn more. Classes will be offered four times during the year. Start dates for each session are: January 15th, April 22nd, August 5th, and October 28th. All classes will be Sunday mornings at 9:45am in room 214. Below is a list of topics discussed each week of the class:
Week 1 - FirstChurch
In the first week we will discuss who is First Church? You will also be introduced to some of our key staff members who can help explain how things get done in our church. A brief history of First Church will be offered and this day's session will conclude with a tour of the church campus.
Week 2 - FirstBeliefs
During our second class, we will discuss some of the foundational beliefs of our church. We will also explain some of the unique aspects of the United Methodist Church. This will help you understand our church's heritage and how it makes us similar and different from other denominations. We will also explain the special significance of Baptism and confirmation. Finally, we will focus on our church's special emphasis on Deeper Discipleship.
Week 3 - FirstConnections
Our third week together will focus on how to make First Church your home. We will help you get involved and connected into the life of the church. You will receive information on small groups, Bible studies, and all of the ministries of the church. We will conclude by navigating how to join the church and what that means.
Week 4 - Next Steps
The final week we will emphasize how you can become involved in serving in the church and in the world. This final aspect of getting connected is to become involved in changing the world and making a difference in the lives of others.
