Working through local churches of the Methodist Church of Haiti (Église Methodiste d'Haiti-EMH), our teams assist Haitian leaders as they teach community members about clean water and the proper use of the Sawyer water filter systems they will receive at the end of the morning workshop. After lunch, FirstChurch team members accompany these leaders as they visit homes to ascertain the continuing viability of previously distributed filters. Each filter is designed to last 10 years, helping a family to have clean water and the resulting protection from water-borne diseases for many years to come.

This project is coordinated through Texas coordinator Bob Ford at First UMC Lufkin and the Missouri Conference which began distributing water filters in Haiti in 2011.

FUMC Plano is taking at least 10 college students, along with a few adults, to Haiti for mission work in May 2017. We are looking to raise money for this trip to make it more available for the students. You can help through our "Go Fund Me" page or through regular giving.
